Item SL489: Antique 19th Century French opera glasses in exceptional mother-of-pearl and gold metal, still in their original box. The glasses are in fantastic condition with no damage and no restoration. One eye piece has MOP marked "Chavagne & Co. Paris." The other is marked in a very unique manner which shows that the piece was presented to "A. N. Sumerlin" of "Grand Rapids, Mich." High quality gold dore (note the bands over the MOP & the exceptional gold finish). Exceptional mother-of-pearl with great iridescence and no damage (so often portion(s) are cracked. I had this displayed on a dressing table, but they could be a perfect accent piece in other settings, within your home. A great conversation piece. 3 1/8 x 4 1/8 in. The box is lined with a plush satin. There is corner wear on the box and one corner is split, but it is still very nice to have as an all original presentation.
